Other people's tales of the MTV Skins party (not quite as nice as ours)

Ha. Well it sounds like some of you had less fun than our man on the street did here. Um, did MTV really not expect this? We figured in our post yesterday that it would cause a mini-riot just like this one, and you can judge for yourself based on the comments below. A lot of people went to the wrong location too it sounds like as written about here. More being added as updates come. Or email us your story.

Just have to say that we've seen a lot of f'ed up stuff in posting these shows but this has to be the worst. Dear corporate entities and organizations: if you're going to do a free show, know what you're getting yourselves into. Do it smart. You can still have great events with big names, but you can't do it incorrectly. And don't blame the venue either. Heineken threw a damn good event in the same space this summer, in nicer weather. And shit, even Sleigh Bells played with all kinds of other bands at the most ridiculously awesome event we've ever been to.

One other thing: don't ignore what actually happened with one
fluff story after another. Any semblance of this being taken as real "news" is ridiculous. Anyway, done ranting. Email myfreeconcertny@gmail.com and we can give you a better idea if that's your bag.

One of our loyal readers who saw things from the inside mentioned a mini-riot in regards to the coat check (that can't be good). They also mentioned there being a garbage can full of flasks and alcohol by the doors that people dove in for with no security around to try to sneak back into the event. (oy vey). This Gawker article also maintains something scary: the first 300 kids lined up down the street got in. Other reports have maintained that the 5,000 person venue was nowhere near capacity, but there were around 800 people in attendance.

This first one's kinda funny. MTV's own Twitter jockey couldn't get in and got shoved. I suppose that symbolises the night for some.

This girl needs a hug. Like seriously.

This also can't be good. Both for letting REALLY REALLY young people in and for the people that were turned away previously for not having a government ID.

It gets a bit worse from there:

ROFL! Brings new definition to the phrase "shit show".

Webster Hall probably loves MTV right now.
