Free Concert: Antibalas, Stepkids, DJ Frank Gossner @ Fort Greene Park, 7/12

The Fort Greene Park Conservancy will kick off its 2011 Greene Music series on Tuesday, July 12th with Brooklyn Afrobeat stars Antibalas. For more than ten years, this sprawling collective has been bringing the sound, the soul, and the charged politics of classic Afrobeat to a modern audience - perhaps most notably as the house band for the Broadway sensation Fela! Their horn-driven, percussion-heavy sound will surely bring Fort Greene to its feet. They will be joined by the young Brooklyn psych-soul group The Stepkids (recently signed to Stone's Throw), and legendary Afrobeat DJ, record collector and label head DJ Frank Gossner (Voodoo Funk).
