A Reflection on 2010

We here at MyFreeConcert just wanted to take the time amidst this insane snowstorm to thank all of you for being a part of the inaugural year of this blog. I'm sure many of you have gone to some great concerts or won tickets for free in this past year, and we're glad to bring you all of the ridiculousness that New York City has to offer.

We've had some really great success this year, including being profiled in the L Magazine and GigMaven, along with working with numerous others to help make what started as a silly idea to let people we knew find out about free shows develop into the start of a real community. More and more people are reaching out from out of the blue to inform us about free shows they are putting on or even playing, or keeping us in the know about ticket giveaways that we've missed. This is our idea of creating as much ease and openness as possible. Giving the fans what they want, and giving them one place and not 100 to have to look for it. Thank you for this.

Each day has its own new surprises in store. In fact, this year you could've seen Nas, Cee Lo, M.I.A., Sleigh Bells, Yeasayer, Sonic Youth, Metric, Questlove, Nicky Minaj, Weezy, Cold War Kids, Titus Andronicus, Cut Copy, The Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, The XX, The Hold Steady, Chairlift, Dam Funk, Hot Chip, Tokyo Police Club, Hanson (yes), Ke$ha, Katy Perry, The Roots, Band of Horses, Wavves, and Yo La Tengo. You can add LCD Soundsystem, Pavement, or Ludacris among others if you took a bus to Virgin Mobile Fest outside of D.C. Total cost = zero dollars. Of course, that's not the entire list. But you get the point.

So with that said, it is MyFreeConcert's goal to continue to warn you about these sorts of shows. Many times you might read about some of these after they occur or the RSVP list closes, and it is our mission to make sure that doesn't continue to happen. And looking forward, 2011 is very exciting. We are going to have a newly designed site very shortly with all sorts of new features. We will be throwing our own free shows and running more in house ticket giveaways like this one.

So thanks again. Tell your friends. They won't be dissapointed. Especially when they're in some secret 12 hour show drinking free alcohol or something (*cough* Creator's Project *cough*). And hey, hopefully we will run into you.

Best wishes from your friendly concert loving team...
