George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, The Beach Boys and Neil Sedaka have all signed on to play free concerts in Brooklyn this summer, according to the preliminary lists posted by the borough president’s office.
Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic and The Ohio Players will start the 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series on July 12 at Wingate Field. Other acts in the Monday-nights festival have not yet been announced.
At the edge of Coney Island, the 32nd Annual Seaside Summer Concert Series will begin July 15 with Sedaka and Brenda Lee. The Beach Boys follow a week later (all Thursdays,) on July 22.
Although the official website doesn’t list it yet,George Thorogood & The Destroyers along with Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes will play the seaside venue July 29, according to Pollstar concert trade journal.
In addition, John Legend, Aretha Franklin, and Belinda Carlisle will play as-yet-undetermined dates at Coney, according to the Sheepshead Bites news blog.
