Free Concert: Xylopholks, free craft brews, 3rd Ward, 6/25

c/o 3rdWard.com:
Joshua Kirsch Presents Sympathetic Resonance
June 25, 7 to 10 p, 195 Morgan Ave, Bklyn, NY, FREE

Joshua Kirsch turns our lobby into an instrument and you get to be the musician! His interactive musical instrument-sculpture utilizes the keys of a marimba (a mallet-percussion instrument of African origin) to create four and a half playable octaves. You play a touch-sensitive aluminum keyboard that triggers the sounds of 56 different note-producing bars. For the first time ever, this sculpture will be mounted from the walls, enclosing the viewer in a sound spouting, porcupine like shell.

Plus, don't miss a performance by Xylopholks, the Brooklyn-based, furry-clad band featuring the xylophone. They will play novelty ragtime music of the 1920’s, as well as some original material, all in furry costumes.

We'll also be holding an interactive multimedia workshop with artist, programmer, and 3rd Ward instructor, Michael Zick Doherty.

Free local craft beers generously provided by Fire Island Beer Company, Ithaca Beer Company, and Southampton Publick House.
